Adam Curtis Online & The Real Shetland Company are flying the flag for Yorkshire and the Humber businesses at the Rio Olympics.Both businesses are at the Games after benefiting from expert and tailored advice and support from international trade advisors (ITAs) at the Department for International Trade (DIT) in Yorkshire and the Humber and are supporters of the Government’s Exporting is GREAT initiative to inspire and encourage another 100,000 business to export by 2020.J&S Heritage Boat photo crop 01Adam Curtis Online is displaying products made by The Real Shetland Company at British House in Rio de Janeiro, the UK’s ‘home away from home’ for the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  Both businesses are run from premises in Harrogate and Leeds with offices and storage at both locations.J&S Nat Boat photo crop 01The throws, cushions and sheepskins being displayed are all made from wool grown on the Shetland Islands with the Heritage dyed range of throws woven from exclusive yarn, dyed in traditional Fair Isle shades and now regarded as highly fashionable.Shetland Cushion by Real ShetlandAdam Curtis established his eponymous online retail business in 2016 to sell products made by The Real Shetland Company, which now has a wide export customer base in mainland Europe, Japan and North America.Third generation woolman Adam said: “The traditions of the Shetland wool textile industry were almost lost until we reinvigorated it. Our efforts give the Shetland crofters and sheep producers this fantastic opportunity to showcase the best wool in the world at British House alongside the best athletes in the world.”Situated in an iconic location at the foot of the statue of Christ The Redeemer, British House is the place to celebrate the achievements of Team GB athletes with a programme of events to promote the best of UK business and culture to business leaders, entrepreneurs and policy makers.
